Connexxion is the market leader in regional passenger transport and ambulance care in the Netherlands. Connexxion Taxi Services is a division of Connexxion and provides, among other things, transport for schoolchildren who cannot travel to school independently, for example because of a physical or mental disability or because they attend special education. Connexxion provides this school transport in more than sixty municipalities, transporting fifteen thousand students every day.
The case for Connexxion
The challenge for Connexxion is to provide transparency through daily real-time insight into the entire school transport operation for the municipality of Amsterdam. The solution for this was a QlikView dashboard. With QlikView, data from the board computers in the taxis and data from Connexxion's central transport package are unlocked, linked and visualized in real time in the QlikView application School Transport Amsterdam. GPS data is linked to punctuality, drivers, complaints, cancellations, no-shows, travel time, arrival times and active passengers.
The Result
Reduction in man-hours
Reduction in the number of man-hours because manually compiling (Connexxion) and reviewing (municipality) Excel reports is no longer necessary.
Everything in one application
Today, both Connexxion's planning department and a number of specifically designated members of the municipality's School Transport team work with the QlikView application School Transport Amsterdam. GPS data from the taxis is visualized in real time and can be linked to drivers, complaints, cancellations, no-shows, travel time, punctuality, arrival times and active passengers.
