In the summer of 2022, European airports struggled with extreme crowds and long wait times. Eindhoven Airport was no exception. With the insights in Qlik Sense, E-mergo helps the airport get more grip on passenger flows. "Our starting point is to get as many people as possible to their flight."
“Thanks to Qlik Sense we have more grip on the queues”
Earlier this year, Eindhoven Airport was looking for a way to make the transition from a quiet corona season to a more-than-busy peak season as smooth as possible. "A good data tool proved to be a handy way to keep the operation workable after all," says Frank van der Heijden, IT Business Analyst at the Eindhoven airport.
The Result
Predicting crowds
Eindhoven Airport uses Qlik Sense to track the traveler's journey. Based on this, they can predict how busy security will be in an hour.
Real-time overview
Eindhoven Airport sees almost in real time how busy it is, where everyone is at the airport, how many more people they can expect, and which step of the process people are in.
Steering tool
The operations department now uses the predictions as a steering tool for calling people forward in the queue. Because they know how far along people are in the process, they can call certain flight numbers forward earlier.
“[...] I look forward to further expanding Qlik Sense together [...], so that we can predict not only the coming hours, but also the coming days or even weeks. In the future, I hope that Eindhoven Airport's partners, and perhaps even passengers, can also benefit from our data insights.”
