Eindhoven isn't known as the safest city in the Netherlands. Mayor John Jorritsma describes this as 'disappointing': "For years now, the figures for Eindhoven have been on the high side. Work and investment are going into this on many fronts to bring about a turnaround. The municipality is doing this with more money and capacity, but the municipality also wants to bring other skills to Eindhoven. 'To fight crime you also need other skills, for example in the field of IT.'"
The case of the Municipality of Eindhoven
The Municipality of Eindhoven invests heavily in creating a safe environment for its residents. This starts with insight. If you don't know what's going on, you can't take targeted action. Until recently, they depended on reports from Cognos for these insights. But this system was too complicated and too complex. Because they wanted, as a municipality, real, better insights to steer actions more precisely based on that insight, in order to improve their crime and safety approach, they decided to look for a better solution.
The Result
